Northwest Chapter

Wisconsin Society of Land Surveyors

The Northwest Chapter of the Wisconsin Land Surveyors is an active group of Wisconsin Registered Land Surveyors. We meet regularly on the Second Thursday of February, April, June, August, October, and December. We meet at Lehman's Supper Club, 2911 S. Main St. in Rice Lake Wisconsin. This location in Rice Lake is central to the large area covered by the Northwest Chapter.

Please join us if you are a Land Surveyor in the Northwest District or just visiting in the area.

Dues are only $10.00 per year (which hardly cover the cost of mailing out the meeting notices).

We have good programs covering current topics of interest to both County Surveyors and surveyors in private practice. Many of our members are also active in the Wisconsin Land Information Program.  Often, the topics covered in our discussions involve mapping issues relevant to the Wisconsin Land Information Program.

The NW Chapter is concerned over a WisDNR position that the State has title to non-meandered lake beds. This has major consequences of title of land and affects millions of acres of land.  The issue was raised by Jerry Wagner and we have forwarded the item to the WSLS Board of Directors.  Surveyors in our area have been running into County Zoning Administrators that are refusing to approve subdivisions that include any body of water whether it is meandered or not.   The WSLS Board has responded by establishing the Water Issues Committee to address this issue.    Several NW Chapter members are on this committee.

If time permits, we hope to post our meeting agenda's in advance on this site.  In the past, the Northwest Chapter has dealt with serious issues involving the counties in our district.  We have worked to confront and educate county officials on issues involving both County Surveyors and surveyors in Private Practice.
