Burnett County Survey Program

This page will be used for some experiments in supplying information for the Burnett County Survey and Land Information Program.
This was created by North Country Surveying, Inc. and is done in cooperation with Kathy Swingle, Burnett County Surveyor and Land Information Director.

The following is a test to try using this space to distribute updated survey network maps. A CD is available from the Land Information Office with drawings of all the available zones that is current as of April 1, 2000. This CD contains the Burnett County Survey Index and the Burnett County Tax Roll in DBase III files. It also contains a considerable amount of additional information this year. Click on README below for a detailed listing of what is available.

Click the following link to download a ZIP file including an AutoCAD R12 drawing of Zone 2 of Burnett County as an example of what is on the CD. This covers the townships of Webb Lake and Blaine (East). This is of an adjustment completed in January of 1999. Survey traverse, GPS points, and PLSS information is shown on this map. Points are Softdesk Point Blocks. Supporting information in the ZIP file include a README file and a ASCII point file for non-Softdesk users. The Star*Net adjustment output listing file and input data files are text files that are also included. These files should be used as described in the README file.

CORRECTIONS TO GEOID96 DERIVED ELEVATIONS TO MATCH BENCHMARKS

This DWF Map is viewable with the AutoCAD WHIP plugin to your browser. It shows a contour map of final corrections to match benchmarks in Burnett County. Using GPS observations and working off stations of the Burnett County Geodetic Control Network, you can establish an ellipsoid height. Using Geoid 96, you can apply an adjustment to generate an elevation above Mean Sea Level. By applying a final correction derived from this contour map, you will match elevations from benchmarks on the ground. Click Here to go to the DWF Page.
What difference does GEOID 99 make? Here is a compilation of the change in Geoid Heights at every station of the Burnett County Geodetic Control Network from GEOID 96 to GEOID 99. There is not much change in the new Geoid Model in our area. The changes vary from +0.003 meter to -0.013 meter, with an average deviation of 0.002 meter. Click Here to See the Table

We have included the following reports from projects that we have done for Burnett County.

Gandy Dancer Benchmark GPS Project. The is a GPS geodetic control project that provided high quality horizontal coordinates along with ellipsoid heights on a series of benchmarks along the Gandy Dancer Trail. This is the abondoned Soo Line railroad through Burnett County. This diskette mentioned in the report would be available from the Burnett County Land Information Office. These benchmarks were leveled through in 1997 by Norton Surveying to provide orthometric heights also. NCS performed the computations and adjustments on this work. The report is included below

Burnett County Ortho Photo Information This is a listing from a database that we created to keep track of the available Ortho Photos, their insertion points and the pixel size. These photos were generated in the Burnett County Coordinate System. It is not a complete list at this time, but we hope to get it updated as time allows.
